General Browser Compatability -
Cross browser compatibility is a very important factor in supporting our customer base (and yours!) ..and we make every effort to meet our market and ensure that as many variables as possible are catered to.
- Your Admin Interface (https://admin.photomerchant.net/) is optimized for use with Firefox 3+, Safari 3+, Chrome and IE 8.
- ..while your Live Site supports all browser versions (though some issues have been reported by users of IE6 - see more on IE6 below).
In order for us to continue to develop, test and implement important (and much in demand) features and system upgrades at the rate we are currently aiming for, we need to be realistic about our goals and priorities. Quite simply, to fully support more browsers than we currently do would have a significant impact on our ability to further develop and improve other areas of the PhotoMerchant application.
We also genuinely believe that in the interests of your online business it is a matter of best practice to encourage both yourself and your customer base to stay current with the latest release of a given web browser. Not only does this provide our development team with a more stable platform to deliver to - it also helps streamline the end-user experience and minimises security risks involved when browsing and transacting online.
Internet Explorer 6 -
IE 6 is a particularly difficult browser to support for many web based applications and you may be interested to know that Microsoft themselves now offer only limited support for this version of their own web browser. IE6 often fails to meet current web compliance standards (resulting in web page layout and user experience issues) and has a well documented history of security problems that have earned it an almost notorious reputation among the developer community.
While we always endevour to cater to the needs of your customer-base it would not be untoward for you to gently encourage customers having difficulty accessing your site on IE6 to upgrade their browser to IE 8. In fact it reflects well on you as an online professional to help move your customers to a more secure platform.
As an example and perhaps a useful resource to share with your customers please refer to this browser compairson chart from Microsoft -

The following links can be used to access the most current release of your preferred browser.
Again please feel free to share these resources with your customers.

Chrome -

We hope this helps make you more comfortable with some of the harder decisions that have to be made regarding browser support - and please never hesitate to come to us with individual concerns regarding your customers' user experience.
Happy interwebbing! :)
The PhotoMerchant Team.
